Thank you for viewing my work and taking the time to learn more.
Art has always been my passion, though it has not always been my livelihood.
I grew up in Prior Lake, Minnesota and I was always the artsy kid in class. Despite my passion, I didn’t think art could ever realistically be a viable career. I decided to shelf that dream and made the more practical decision to study Business Management and Spanish at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. After earning my degree I spent some time traveling Europe before settling in Barcelona for the better part of a year. Upon my return I moved to San Diego & have been living & working here since.
In January of 2009 I was working as an Account Executive for a software company. I had great benefits, a healthy paycheck, a comfortable travel schedule, and a nagging feeling deep in my gut that I wasn’t fulfilled by any of it. I needed to make a change. Without a real plan, I decided to start pursuing art on the side, rented my first studio, and jumped in. I would leave my office, head straight to my studio, and create until I couldn’t hold my eyes open any longer. I poured everything into my art and, little by little, saw it start to take on a life of its own. After one year, I cut my hours at the software company down to part-time. A year later, I quit my job altogether. Art or bust.
Over 10 years later, thanks to the support of collectors and customers from around the world, my business continues to grow. I have experimented in countless mediums and subjects over the years, from surreal oil paintings to acrylic pet portraits to derby hats and everything in between. Through it all, my fascination and inspiration for working with mirror as a medium has only grown stronger. I love its interactive nature, the way it creates depth and space in a room, reflects light, and the fact that it allows viewers to literally see themselves in the art. Glassd is a project that has been near to my heart from the very beginning and is now the main focus of my art.
I’m grateful every single day for the opportunity to work hard at what I love. Thank you for supporting original art, small business, and the pursuit of happiness.
